It Works!

After having a hydraulic connection break during my first trial use of the 'new' backhoe, I finally have it working. Well, only after three trips to town and a phone call to the manufacturer, that is.

I also successfully dug my first (of many) short trench. It worked pretty cool.

I spent March 15th thru the 20th at the property in Canon City by myself as Karen was spending time with her mom and brother in California. The views from the house site are even more beautiful than our pictures reveal.

Working, Finally

Yesterday, I drove the motorhome with the Tacoma behind down to the property north of Canon City. I am using the skid hoe on little digging projects to get a feel for it.

When I hooked up and tested the skid hoe (backhoe), one of the connectors broke. I should be able to get it fixed in Canon City but and frustrated with the manufacturer. I guess it is just the kind of thing that happens when using mechanical equipment.

You might see that the TV antenna is up on the motorhome. I discovered last night that I can pick up four, count 'em, four channels. Not the greatest of reception but good enough to get the weather and news.

The weather has been cool today, even spitting a couple of snowflakes every now and then. It is supposed to be colder tomorrow. Brrrrrrrr.

We're There

Our good friend, Dave Eckersley, went with me to deliver the skid steer and backhoe to our property in Canon City. The truck performed well in pulling the approx. 9,000 lb. load up and down the hills. I don't even want to think about what kind of gas mileage I got......

Ready to Go

All of the new/old toys in one place, finally. The Bobcat skid steer, the backhoe, the trailer and, the latest acquisition, the 1991 Ford F250. I am ready to take the skid steer and backhoe down to the property in Canon City.

Migun

For a couple of years I've been going to Migun at the Lakewood Branch and have enjoyed the thermal massage system. The company that makes this system was established in 1988 in South Korea and represents the fusion of Asian and Western Medical techniques. The effects of Acupressure, Acupuncture, Heat-Therapy, Chiropractic, and Massage make the experience so relaxing.

When Dan finally went with me to try out Migun, he discovered how good it feels on his back and legs. So we decided to invest in one. The white "paddles" that you see consist of jade balls that are heated by helium and release far infrared rays, which emit ions that are essential for the body's continued healing and natural anti-aging systems.

It's more than a massage!

New Look

We had the family room drywalled and textured before we painted. What a difference!

Family Room Project

The ugly dark panneling has finally been removed from the family room. Dan took it all down.

Toy

Say "Hi" to Dan. He plans to use the bobcat to move snow and dirt at 856 Dilley Ranch Road. He has spent many hours cleaning this machine. The previous owner used it in his construction business before selling it to Dan.

Great News

Written on a pink card and a blue card: "It's a Girl, or a Boy." These cards were attached to a bottle of champagne. This was Jeremy and Stephanie's surprise for us. Wonderful News! Grandma and Grandpa will have to wait until October to welcome the new Heismann with lots of love.

Hiking

While hiking on part of the 35 acres of our property north of Canyon City, we found these beautiful red rock formations.

President's Day Weekend

Two men from Colorado Engineering & Geotechnical Group, Inc. drilled several holes where the barn and house will be built and in the septic system area. They took samples of the dirt and poured water in 4 of the holes for the "perc" test.

After 5 years of looking and making offers on two other lots, we finally found the one for us. 856 Dilley Ranch Road already has a well on it (with good tasting water). Our bid on this land was accepted and we closed on 12/14/07.

This picture, taken in November, 2007, is a south southwest view on 856 Dilley Ranch Road, located in the Colorado "Banana Belt," 10 miles north of Canyon City. It is gorgeous!
