California

In March Mom and I flew to California to visit my brother, Harry, and his wife Mary. While we were there we spent time with my nephew, Brian, and his family. What a great trip!

Digging

Dan has been busy on his bobcat digging in the area where the barn will be built.

Ed

Ed Spooner will be our electrician.

Lunch Break

The Aquila guys taking their deserved lunch break.

The Box

They were very careful to place the green "box" between the trees.

Aquila

On May 12, 2008, a team of four arrived to pull electricity to 856 Dilley Ranch Road. A trench 4 feet deep was dug. Notice Wayne, the boss, down in the ditch with his shovel.

Hike

Zac and I took a short hike to our own "canyon" or gully on May 10th.

Barn Pieces

We wrapped some of the pieces with tarp to keep out any moisture.

Checker

Karen was the inventory checker.

Bobcat

The Bobcat sure came in handy when unloading the heavier items.

Put it There

Gus is the Director.

Barn Unloading

Gus and Zac came to help us unload the metal barn that arrived at Dilley Ranch Road on May 10th. We sure needed their help. Zac is wearing some of Jennie's safety gear that she sometimes uses on her job sites. Behind Zac is the 18 wheeler that transported the metal pieces from North Dakota for the barn.

Wildflower

This wildflower was transplanted from the Dilley property.

Poppies

This is a view out the front window.

Hungry Hummer

View from the kitchen window.

Bike Ride

The six of us rented bikes for a day and rode on the paved bike path right by the ocean on the east side of the island. Monk seals were seen on the rocks basking in the sun.

View from Pono Kai

Beautiful sunrises were enjoyed from our room at Pono Kai in Kapa'a.

Shuffelboard

Playing with the kids!

Massages

Dan is getting a chair massage from Kimo, a Hawaiian who had his "office" by the pool at Pono Kai, where we stayed. Jeremy is about to have his turn. Those 15 minute massages were magical.

Reading

Stephanie is reading Belly Laughs, a fun book about pregnancy. Her baby is due Oct. 15th.

Spouting Horn

Spouting Horn is a small lava shelf where water from waves is thrust through an opening, causing water and air to squirt out a blowhole. Dan, Stephanie, and Jeremy are posing in front of the blowhole.

Surf lessons

Here you see Jennie, Zac and Jeremy (in the middle of the picture) getting some instructions for surfing. Their lesson was at Hanalei Bay, where part of the movie South Pacific was filmed.

Hawaii

April in Hawaii is heavenly, especially if you get to spend it with your family! We were on the island of Kauai for two weeks. What a treat.

Pueblo River Walk

This walk is in downtown Pueblo and is used by many on their lunch hour.

Ring My Bell

We spent an enjoyable afternoon walk here at the Pueblo River Walk. Dan had fun ringing the bells.
