Santa's Helpers

Our plans for Christmas include a trip to Golden to be with our family, Zac and Jennie, Jeremy, Stephanie, Noah, and Ryder. We will gather at Zac & Jennie's in the afternoon on Christmas Eve. We'll exchange gifts and have dinner. On Christmas Day we will celebrate with the Browns (Jennie's family) in Sedalia. We look forward to spending time with these little helpers. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Before and After

Clearing out some of the trees has made a difference in our view down the valley.

Burning

Since it snowed about 3 inches, we decided that the conditions for burning were good, so we tended the fire for about four hours before the wind started to gust. We had our first winter "picnic" while we watched the pile burn. Dan put some water from the well into the water tank so that we would have plenty to put out the fire completely.

Hydro Ax

We have a monster machine, the hydro ax, in our yard. It is clearing juniper trees for the fire mitigation program. Many home owners in the valley are having their land cleared. This view is of the front of the hydro ax. The huge blades on the bottom are sharpened everyday and they make the tree cutting so easy.

Caution

The mulching has started at 856 Dilley Ranch Road. This is for fire mitigation. It is necessary to stay away 300 ft. from the hydro-ax machine because of the flying tree parts.

Thanksgiving 2011

Water

The water is deposited into the cistern, which holds 1200 gallons. This '91 Ford has come in handy, besides transporting water, it was used to move boxes from Lakewood to Dilley, to take the bobcat to Pueblo to be repaired, to help the Whalens move their boxes to their cabin, and to take the garbage cans down to the gate area.

water, water, water

Since our well doesn't produce enough water, and the water has uranium , we drive into Canon City to get more water. After hooking up the hose, Dan inputs our code number and the amount of water needed. The water tank on the truck has a capacity to hold 425 gallons. We usually get 385 gallons.

Big brother, Noah, is 3 years old and little brother, Ryder, is 3 months old.

Friends

Our friends, Lyn and Larry Hicks, came for the weekend. They showed us pictures of their recent trip to Russia and we showed them a little of Canon City and gave them the grand tour of the house. Good times, good conversations with good friends.

Mom

Spending time with Mom was special. We are so happy that she made the trip to see us.

Carl and Shirley

Thanks, Carl and Shirley for bringing Mom Heismann out to see us. They drove out west in a rented RV and stopped in MT first to see Mary and Wally, then on to Lakewood to see: Jeremy, Stephanie, Noah, Ryder, Zac, Jennie, Chris, Kimberly, August, Zoe, Gus, Nancy, Carol, Kendall, Alex, and Colton, and finally to Canon City to see us. We appreciate all you, Carl, do for Mom!

Golfing Brothers

While the Heismanns were here, Carl and Dan enjoyed two games of golf.

Puzzle Workers

Team work was needed to complete the puzzles. While working together, good conversations are part of the fun.

Puzzles

While Mom Heismann, Carl, and Shirley were here to visit, we put together two puzzles.

To the other Pasture

Moving the Horses

After brushing their horses, Wally and Mary moved them to the other pasture where they have the freedom to run and graze.

Feels so Good

Brushing the Horses

Cleaning up the corral, feeding the horse, brushing the horses and moving the horses keep these horse owners busy.

Horses

Doc, the light colored horse, is Mary's and Whiskey is Wally's horse.
